Oaxaca Old Fashioned Twist

Ingredients:
  • Ice
  • Rocks glass
  • 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1/2 ounce mezcal
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • 2 dashes Angostura® bitters
  • Flamed twist of fresh orange peel, for garnish
Preparation:
Fill mixing glass with ice. Add 1 1/2 ounces tequila, 1/2 ounce mezcal, 1 teaspoon agave nectar, and 2 dashes bitters. Stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass, preferably one large ice cube or spherical ice ball. Use a sharp paring knife to cut a round “coin” of orange peel from your fresh citrus fruit. Light a match; hold the lit match several inches above the rocks glass. Hold the orange peel colored side down, about 2 inches above the lit match. Wave peel slowly over match for a couple of seconds so the citrus oils fall onto the surface of the drink. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop the twist peel into the drink. Serves 1.
